Stainless Steel
What is Stainless Steel –
Stainless steel is a generic term for a group of corrosion resistant alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium as well as nickel, molybdenum, titanium and niobium. Other elements may also be added to stainless steels in varying quantities to produce a range of stainless steel grades, each with different properties.
All stainless steels have high corrosion resistance. This is because a very thin, inert (meaning little or no ability to react), invisible film of chromium-rich oxide forms on the surface of the steel. This film tightly adheres to the metal & gives the metal its protection from corrosion. The film is rapidly self repairing when oxygen is present, therefore the metal can be quite easily & quickly repaired or restored if scratched or damaged
Benefits Of Stainless Steel
Corrosion Resistance – All stainless steels have a resistance to corrosion. The extent of resistance to corrosion depends on the composition of the steel.
Aesthetic Appeal – Stainless steel is available in many surface finishes such as mirror polish or high polish resulting in a high quaulity pleasing appearance
